Come on CBR, really?

I expect that fanboys and girls from either universe, Marvel or DC, will always make guesses and conjectures about their favorite heroes and villains winning, and using what they consider to be historical evidence as a basis for their resultant victory. I do not expect that from professionals however.

Wunceand4all.com was developed as a totally unbiased approach to the intra-universal contests and wars between DC and Marvel. Superman v Hulk, Batman v Cap America, Batman v Black Panther, Batman v Daredevil, etc. We don't care who wins as long as the results are based on real-world metrics (well actually we do care: I didn't like the results of Batman v Cap).

Now I understand that CBR uses a long list of writers, and they cannot possibly vett every single column published on their website, but they should. Especially when the article contains such egregious flaws- yes Deathstroke could beat Deadpool, but would he? There's a big difference in those two questions.

The Marvel and DC Universes are both full of instances of "could"- Batman beating Hulk and Darkseid, Squirrel Girl winning over Dr Doom and Thanos. Things like that. ANYBODY CAN BEAT ANYBODY ELSE on any given day. It can and does happen.

But to set a standard that is clearly outside the realm of normal, and then trying to present it as normal, is clearly foolish or lazy. So that brings us to CBR's latest list- Deadpool Vs. Deathstroke: Which Merc Would Win?

The cliff notes on the list are:

1) others they have beaten- who cares? It has nothing to do with what happens when they meet each other. To suggest that hero X can beat villain Y because he has beaten hero W, is foolhardy.

2) The list did properly cite strength and healing factor. Slade has Captain American strength, Deadpool has a healing factor that beats both Wolverine and Slade.

3) Slade's intellect is also credited.

But the bottom line is hollow and empty: "once Deathstroke gets his hands on a mutant inhibitor collar and straps it on Deadpool, it's all a matter of skill and planning—which is where Slade Wilson reigns supreme." (I guess we need to forget about DP's teleportation device).

You can't base a result on conjecture, wishing, hope, or infrequent acts of exceptional effort and then call the results normal. It doesn't pass the smell test. Ridiculous presuppositions such as Moon Knight beating Batman, or Aquaman beating Thor are not only just plain silly, it adds to the detrimental pseudo-data that people cite again and again as reasons for their ridiculous conclusions. Once the downward spiral starts, it takes a lot of effort to pull out.

Let's try it our way- The Grandmaster grabs both of these guys out of mid air, drops them into an arena surrounded by a force field that the Hulk can't bust, and makes them fight until one person is at health 0. The results for such a contest have to be based on real-world metrics. We have those metrics, thanks to the database compiled by comic writers, editors and historians.

Righting the flight is what Wunceand4all is all about- not lifting up DC over Marvel, or Marvel over DC. It will take a lot of work. It's OK. We like it.
